Abstract

Players can obtain various geometric tools by scanning scattered Afghan artifacts in the museum. They can then use the augmented reality application to create their own artifact and upload it to the server for display.

“For several decades, the Linden-Museum Stuttgart has been home to numerous marble objects from Ghazni (Afghanistan), which from today's perspective represent a rather difficult legacy for the institution. In this context, "get:in" was created as a participatory game that allows museum visitors to experience the complexity of the objects beyond their purely figurative nature. In its essence as a gamified mediation format, the project aims to break down existing barriers such as a lack of prior knowledge for the cultural participation of different user groups. The game as a medium is intended to offer a link to the visitors' everyday lives and inspire a young audience to engage with the topic. The game enables visitors to go beyond the consumption of content and make their own contribution to the exhibition in the form of a digital artifact.”
